Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 22, 2026
nnyyxx LLC runs this service from California, in the United States. This policy covers nyx.now, vessel subdomains, vessels served on their own custom domains, the nnyyxx app, and the API. nnyyxx is for adults only (18+).
The short version: we collect what it takes to run our service and keep it safe, we do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and there are no ads and no third-party analytics on nnyyxx.
What We Collect
Things you give us
- Account details, such as your email address, password (stored hashed), and your settings and preferences.
- Anything you post, upload, send or share on nnyyxx, and the vessels, forums and events you create, along with information that comes with it, such as the details stored in a file. Some of it is public, and some is visible only to the people you share it with.
- Information you add to the features you use, such as locations on posts or a custom domain for a vessel.
- Anything you send us, such as messages through our contact form, reports, DMCA notices and removal requests, with the contact details you include (such as a phone number).
Payments
If you buy something on nnyyxx, such as Obsidian, a vessel subscription or an event ticket, we keep a record of it, such as your plan, purchases and limited card details like the brand and last four digits. If you get paid through nnyyxx, we keep records of those payments too. Payments are processed by our payment processor.
Things collected automatically
- Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and details of any errors you hit.
- Signals from your device and connection that help us detect spam, abuse, harassment, ban evasion and sign-ups by anyone under 18, and help us comply with the law.
- Your sign-in history and the country your IP address pointed to when you signed up.
- Cookies that keep you signed in, remember your device and preferences, and keep you signed in on custom domains. We set no advertising cookies. Media embedded from other sites may set its own.
We don't respond to Do Not Track signals, since there is no common standard for them and we don't track you for advertising.
How We Use It
- To run nnyyxx: show you your feed, deliver your posts, run forums, messages, events and search.
- To improve nnyyxx: fix bugs, find what is slow or broken, and build new features.
- To email you: sign-up confirmations, password resets, billing receipts, legal notices, and the notification digests you control in your settings.
- To keep nnyyxx safe: rate limits, bot checks, detecting spam, abuse, harassment, ban evasion and sign-ups by anyone under 18, and moderating reported content.
- To bill subscriptions and to comply with the law.
Who We Share It With
We rely on some other companies to help bring you nnyyxx. We limit what each one receives to what it needs to do its job.
- Service providers that host nnyyxx, store uploads, deliver pages and email, and protect the site from bots.
- Payment processing: Stripe processes payments. If a payment is disputed, we give the payment processor what it needs to settle the dispute, such as the purchase details and when the paying account used nnyyxx.
- Location: see the Location section below.
- Safety review: uploaded images and reported content may be checked by automated review services, including AI, to flag abuse.
- Embedded media: when a post embeds a video, song or post from another site, your browser loads it, or its preview image, from that site, which sees your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
- Law and safety: when required by law, such as a subpoena, court order or search warrant, or to protect nnyyxx or its users from fraud, abuse, or imminent harm. When we receive a valid request to preserve an account's records, we keep them for the time the law allows while the request is pending.
- Business transfer: if nnyyxx is merged, acquired, reorganized or sold, in whole or in part, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.
We have never directly shared or sold personal information for advertising, and we have no plans to.
Location
- Approximate location. We estimate your country, region and city from your IP address, for everyone. It starts the map and events pages near you, ranks place suggestions, and helps spot bots. The sign-up country stays on your account; a city-level entry sits with each sign-in for a limited time.
- Precise location. Your browser or device may share your location with us, sometimes down to your exact spot. When it does, the map, the composer and the events page use it in place of the IP estimate, and mapping services may receive it to show the map and find places near you. We don't save it to your account unless you tag a post with your current location, which makes that spot public. Like other requests, it may stay in our caches and logs for a limited time.
- Tags on posts. Place searches go to mapping services such as Apple Maps, Foursquare, TomTom or others, depending on which we expect to be most efficient. The place you pick is public with the post and on the explore map.
- Photos. A photo's embedded location is read to suggest a tag (picking it publishes that exact spot), then stripped from the stored file.
- Also: Apple draws the map in your browser and sees the area you view, event venues are public, and your time zone is saved for scheduling.
Custom Domains
Some vessels use their own domain name instead of a nnyyxx address. They work like any other vessel: same account, same privacy settings, and logging out with “log out all other devices” checked signs you out of them too.
Your Rights
These apply to everyone, and they are the rights California law gives its residents:
- Know what we hold about you: see “Your Data, Exported” below.
- Delete it: see “Deleting Your Account” below.
- Correct it: your settings pages cover most things; use the contact form for anything you cannot edit yourself.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: we do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- Limit sensitive information: we use sensitive information, like your precise location, only to provide the feature you're using.
- No discrimination: exercising these rights never changes how nnyyxx treats you.
To exercise a right, start with your settings pages. For anything else, use the contact form with the topic “privacy request”, or email [email protected], from the email address on your account so we can verify it is you.
Your Data, Exported
You can download your content from settings, under account, then export. You get your content as JSON files, along with a script that bulk-downloads your images, audio and video.
Deleting Your Account
Delete from settings, under account, then delete. You have about an hour to change your mind from the link in the email we send; after that, deletion runs automatically. Copies in backups and caches clear on schedules that can take longer. We keep records the law requires us to keep, such as DMCA notices, and your email address stays on our do-not-email list if you ever asked us to stop emailing you. When someone reposts or quotes your content, their copy belongs to their vessel and stays up after you delete the original or your account. Search engines and other sites may keep copies of anything that was public, and we cannot recall those.
How Long We Keep Things
Account data stays for as long as your account exists. Sign-in history, abuse-prevention records and similar logs are kept for a limited time and then trimmed. Uploaded images carry an encrypted record of the uploading account and IP address that only nnyyxx can read, used solely to investigate abuse. We may keep specific records longer when the law requires it or when they are needed for a legal claim.
Security
Passwords are hashed, traffic is encrypted, and we limit access to our systems. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, so pick a password you use nowhere else.
Children
nnyyxx is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we use RTA (Restricted To Adults) labeling, so parental control software can block nnyyxx. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete their information, except what the law requires us to keep.
Outside the United States
nnyyxx is hosted in the United States and your information is stored and processed there. If you use nnyyxx from elsewhere, you agree to that transfer.
Changes to This Policy
We may change this policy as nnyyxx changes. Updates are posted here, at this same address. If a change is significant, we will tell registered users about it. This policy describes how we handle information; it is not a contract.
